Activism

Trustee Leader Scholar, Community Connect, Red Hook, New York
Organize English tutoring and homework help for the children of Latin-American immigrants in the Hudson Valley. Work as a liaison between Bard College and Community Connect. Meet weekly at local schools to assess student progress. Also personally tutor students who recently arrived in the US.
2020-2021               
Spanish Interpreter and Pro-se legal aid, New Sanctuary Coalition, New York, New York
Worked in a team researching current immigration law, and providing Country Conditions Reports. Maintained     contact with asylum seekers, and kept them informed on their court trials. Drafted affidavits and motions for continuance, and filled out working papers. Contacted lawyers and witnesses in Honduras, Guatemala, and México. Worked with various undocumented friends seeking legal aid, and spent 10 months working on a successful asylum case.
2018                       
Translator and Director’s Assistant, Cruzando Fronteras, Nogales, Arizona; Nogales, México
Medical interpreter at the La Roca shelter in Nogales, Mexico. Organized clothing and food drives, researching the needs of refugees at the border. Conducted intake interviews at various shelters for refugees in Arizona which involved taking down medical information, organizing bus rides, and contacting the families of immigrants as they were released from ICE Detention Centers.
